Mortal Shell II — Clockwork Scythe Location (Sariel Boss Line)

Published 2026-09-174 min read

The Clockwork Scythe is Mortal Shell II's fan-favorite: smooth chains, a sweeping spinning heavy, and relentless curse build-up. Defeat Sariel at The Silent Steps twice and break his grave markers to claim it — full route inside.

The Clockwork Scythe earns its reputation. Its light chains are fluid and mid-speed, its heavy attack is a wide spinning slash that covers angles most weapons cannot touch, and it stacks curse on enemies with miserable consistency. Elites and armored foes hate all of it.

Wide arcs, steady curse pressure, and coverage that punishes flanking.

How to get it: the Sariel line

The scythe drops from the same repeat boss line as the Sariel Shell:

  1. Fast travel to The Silent Steps Beacon and head south-east to the large stone platform.
  2. Defeat Sariel, the Endless in the first encounter. He escapes through a wall that grinds open, revealing the Chamber of Becoming dungeon.
  3. Chase him through the dungeon to the final room.
  4. Smash all four grave markers — the glowing plates that revive him — then kill him properly. The Clockwork Scythe unlocks automatically.

While you are there, climb the stairs at the back of the final room: the Caged Hystrix sidearm sits near the exit, making this one trip pay three times.

What it plays like

  • Smooth, reliable chains. Mid-speed swings link cleanly, so curse stacks and posture chip accumulate without risky commitments.
  • The spinning heavy. A broad rotation that covers your sides — flankers who dodge around your lights run straight into it.
  • Curse pressure. Steady affliction build-up turns long fights into timed fights: the enemy's health bar keeps melting even between your swings.
