Mortal Shell II — How to Unlock All Shells (Locations & Requirements)

Published 2026-09-175 min read

A complete unlock guide for every Shell in Mortal Shell II: where to find Tiel, Proxima, Eredrim, Smert, Lazlo, Genessa and Sariel, what each one demands — a graveyard pickup, a blood ritual, a boss kill or a quest item — and the hidden eighth Shell most players miss.

Shells are the playable bodies of Mortal Shell II — fallen warriors you claim and inhabit, each with its own health pool, stamina profile and signature ability. You start the game with a single default Shell, and the rest are waiting out in the world: some are free pickups beside a Beacon, others sit behind region bosses, blood rituals or quest lines. This page summarizes how every Shell is obtained, with a dedicated guide linked for each one.

Seven Shells can be claimed across Fainweald and the Ruins of Mammon — plus one hidden bonus body.

Every Shell and where it waits

Shell How it is obtained
Tiel, the Acolyte Claim the body in the graveyard south-east of the Widow's Overlook Beacon — no fight required.
Proxima, the Broodseeker Inside the building that houses the Blackridge Pass Beacon — walk in and interact.
Eredrim, the Venerable Dropped after defeating the region boss inside the Citadel of Penance.
Smert, the Apostate Complete the blood ritual at Prophet's Rest: fill all three sacrifice pools with defeated enemies.
Lazlo, the Justicar Claimed in the chamber behind the Royal Crypt of Mammon boss arena, after defeating its mini-boss.
Genessa, the Wayward Quest unlock: retrieve the Sester's Censer near the monastery and return it to Genessa in Marrow Keep.
Sariel, the Endless Defeat Sariel at The Silent Steps repeatedly until the Shell, weapon and sidearm are all yours.

Each detailed guide above covers the exact route from the nearest Beacon, what the fight (if any) demands, and what the Shell plays like once equipped.

The ritual and quest Shells, in short

Two unlocks deserve a word of warning before you set out. Smert requires you to lure enemies to their deaths inside three sacrifice pools until each runs with blood — arrive with a plan for pulling enemies safely, not just a sharp weapon. Genessa is the only Shell gated behind an item: the Sester's Censer, claimed near the monastery in the Ruins of Mammon after a boss fight, must be carried back to Marrow Keep by hand, so don't leave the trip for the very end of your run.

Don't forget the hidden eighth body

Beyond the seven listed above, an eighth Shell — Gragu — is hidden behind a tavern quest in the One-Legged Wolf: help the drunkard find the Heart of Vatra, return it to him, and the game quietly hands you a body most players never see. It is entirely missable, so if you are sweeping collectibles anyway, detour through the tavern before finishing your run.

Back at Marrow Keep, remember that talking to the nun while wearing a freshly claimed Shell can trigger extra scenes — Tiel in particular has a unique interaction worth seeing.
